Looking for an ultra-high-speed, high tolerance waterjet with repeatability to the micron level, with self loading and unloading capability all while running multiple 5 axis cutting heads? The WARDJet L-Series range of waterjets could be just what you are looking for.
The L-Series was designed by the engineering team of
WARDJet to meet our customers ever growing needs. More and more we come across customers with water only applications including specialized packaging, insulation, sound reduction, flooring (linoleum) and other products made from rubber, foam, and soft materials. We were approached by a customer to build a, high speed, high accuracy, water only cutting system with 5-axis capability. To achieve the high speed requirement there were two options: linear motion or belt drive. Good accuracy is achievable by either of these drive systems, but linear motion control is renowned for its excellent accuracies, placement repeatability and reliability. With that the L-Series was born.

|
The frame of the L-Series is extremely robust - made of thick walled steel tubing which is then heat stress relieved. The liner rails and magnets are mounted onto precision machined surfaces with beefed up plates on top of the support. A sturdy design is important to be able to accommodate the multiple 5-axis cutting heads. Finite element analysis is used to check the structural strength, deflection, loads and torque of the various parts and components both when stationary and in full motion. |
The linear motors allow speeds to be achieved upwards of 2,500 inches per minute or more impressively, over 40 inches per second, with acceleration parameters up to 0.5 Gs. The linear encoder scale can be specified to accuracies of 1 micron, but generally 5 microns suffice.
In addition to the motion requirements, a cutting table was needed to keep up with the high production capacity of the machine. A self loading mechanical table was integrated into the system to help feed material from the back to the front of the machine making it more efficient and ergonomic. The cutting table can communicate with the control system to feed material upon completion of cuts to reduce set up time by automatically loading and unloading. This also helps increases operator efficiency.
What makes the L-Series unique? It is controlled by the
WARDJet X-Series controller and has the ability to run multiple 5-axis cutting heads simultaneously.

If additional cutting capacity is needed in the future, cutting heads can be added due to the modular design which can be found in all
WARDJet waterjet machines.
The high pressure tubing that delivers the water to the cutting heads is plumbed to
minimize failure of the tubing while operating at high speeds.
The stainless steel conveyor belt on the table will be long lasting in the water only
cutting environment. The three part tank consists of a steel frame and base with a
stainless steel pan lining the inside to prevent wear and rusting.

So, if you’re in need of a high speed waterjet system, with the attributes of linear motors which are used for ultra reliability, placement and repeatability, contact the WARDJet sales team today. The L-Series can easily be customized by our gifted engineering team to fit your application.

Installation & Training Options: Training is available on-site in your facility by a highly skilled WARDJet installer. Installation and training can be done at your facility. The WARDJet employee will not only help to set up your machine but will also train your operator to be competent to cut quality parts and maintain various aspects of your machine.
Free training is available at WARDJet for you and your employees.
WARDJet, Inc. takes training seriously and considers this to be one of the most important keys to your success. In light of this we have a dedicated training room for our customers' free use. We strongly encourage you to send up to two people to our facility for a few days to get familiar with the operation of your machine, software, and controller while benefiting from specific guidance on maintenance for the pumps and other equipment – all this before your system is shipped…and all for free.
We want to work with you and your budget because
we care about you and your investment.
