About the R-Series

Our Z-Series and R-Series waterjets are the highest accuracy waterjets we build.
Many of our customers have a need for a machine larger than the Z-813, so
WARDJet created the R-Series waterjet
system. This high precision helical rack and split pinion unit has been designed to meet even the
largest requirements while holding very tight tolerances. Either a 9’ or 13’ crossbeam
is used for the Y-axis, and the length of the X-axis can be as long as necessary. Additional racks
can always be added because the X-axis is rack and pinion. The Y-axis operates using a ball screw
drive mechanism.

How do we keep our prices down?
WARDJet waterjets are loaded with many
practical features that help operators become more productive. Our challenge was how to get the
units to the end user at affordable pricing. This has been achieved by pioneering an innovative
business model specifically aimed at helping our customers. Simply put, we cut out all of the
middlemen and high cost centers that do not directly contribute to the building of a great
waterjet system.
- We only sell direct – not through distributors
- Sales people are based at home – no traveling sales people
- Maximum use of latest technology – using software, the Internet, CD/DVD, web cams, WebEx, etc.

R-Series Waterjet Gantries
WARDJet systems are available in a
variety of sizes to meet our customers varied needs. The R-Series comes in eight standard sizes,
the R-1213, R-2013,
R-3013, R-4013,
R-129, R-209,
R-309, and R-409. Feel free to browse
through our different machines and determine which style and size is right for you. Smaller sizes
are available through our Z-Series,
J-Series, and M-Series.
Again any length is available if you need something longer then 40’ or shorter than 20’.
Widths of over 13’ are also available.

The R-Series waterjet features:
- High precision helical rack and split pinions to achieve longer travel distances with zero backlash
- Laser calibration of all systems to map all ball screws and racks
- Up to 12” Z-axis travel
- Multiple cutting heads available
- Lip seal design for multiple, easy to move independent carriages on Y-axis
- Bellows on X-axis
- 9’ or 13’ Y-axis allowing for full 8’ and 12’ range of motion with one cutting head when a second Z-carriage is parked
- Additional crossbeams can be mounted onto the same side rails. So, a 20’ or larger R-Series unit could have multiple heads, crossbeams, controllers and cut different parts simultaneously, all over one tank!

Why the EXTRA foot of travel?
A great feature on the Z-Series waterjet is the additional foot of travel you get in the
left to right cutting direction. The reason we added this as standard is that most
waterjet companies use multiple cutting heads to produce two parts in the same amount
of time it takes to cut one part, thus increasing production. Typically, the moment you
add a second head, the distance of travel the first head can move is reduced to make
space for the addition of the second head. For example, a 6’ x 12’ waterjet
with 2 heads can now only travel and cut 8’ if a 4’ spreader bar was fitted.
So you can no longer cut a 12’ standard sheet with one head. By using independent
carriages instead of a spreader bar, and parking the second carriage in the extra foot
of space when not needed you still have the full 12' of cutting with the Z-Series
waterjet.

Why the Independent Carriages?
The benefit of having separate cutting heads on completely independent Z-Carriages is the freedom the operator gets to place the heads as close or as far apart as desired within seconds. When the operator is preparing to cut new parts using multiple heads, it is a quick and easy process to adjust the distances between the cutting heads. The additional heads are mounted on the same bearings as the master carriage, and slide easily along the crossbeam. They can then be locked into position using the stabilizing bar that goes between the two carriages. This makes it very easy to change the distance between the heads, and still be confident that they are perpendicular to your material. Each Z-Carriage has its own motor driven height adjustment, and can be configured to have an independent height sensor. It is hence possible to have three Z-Carriages on the same crossbeam each with its own height sensor, thus freeing up the operator to watch TV and play video games. The traditional method of adding multiple cutting heads ot a waterjet is to mount them on a spreader bar. WARDJet does offer this as an option, but experience shows repositioning head spacing with a spreader bar can be tedious, frustrating, and time consuming. It also generates the associated costs and downtime. By making these easy to use, independent carriages WARDJet once again demonstrates our commitment to make our systems practical and user friendly.

Grating Support
WARDJet’s
modular multi-purpose grating system allows parts to be loaded
and clamped down anywhere on the table. Four grate systems are available based on your
specific application: general Job Shop grates, Heavy-Duty grates, Water-only cutting
grates and JETSLAB® stone-cutting grates. Different grate systems can be put in the
tanks simultaneously allowing one portion of the table to be set up for water only cutting
and the balance to be abrasive cutting. The different types of grates are also stackable.
Heavy-duty grates are often selected for the R-Series machines because they have been
designed for supporting larger, heavier sheets of material. |

Pumps
It is very important to balance your selection of pump with your cutting needs.
So WARDJet machines can be supplied
with a variety of pumps. Choices include intensifier pumps operating at up to 60,000 psi: 30hp, 50hp, 75hp, 100hp, and150hp are available. Often there are used pumps available as a lower cost option.
Feel free to give us a call to ensure you have the right pump for your application. We can also help you select a pump that will be able to support
the number of cutting heads you will be running.
