Why a Z-813 instead of a Z-613?
View Printable Version
During your recent conversations with us regarding your waterjet needs the Z-813 may have been mentioned to you. You might be thinking “Why look at a machine that is 2’ larger when I really only need a 4’ x 8’ or 6’ x 12’ machine?” Although these machines are intentionally designed to be very similar there are some key differences that you may want to consider.
- Capacity – While it appears that you have only added 2’ more onto your travel, you have actually opened an unlimited number of doors. On a 4’ x 8’ or 6’ x 12’ machine you can only load one 4’ x 8’ sheet at a time to cut. Although on a Z-613 you can efficiently unload it, reload the next sheet, clamp it and be ready to cut in minutes – it’s nothing like having multiple sheets loaded and cutting at the same time. With the Z-813 you can take that 4’ x 8’ sheet and turn it the other direction. By using that extra 2’ of space that you have you can now load three 4’ x 8’ sheets side-by-side on your table at the same time.
- Growth – As your business grows so will this machine. With the freedom to add up to 4 Z-Carriages on the same crossbeam and run them all simultaneously it’s like having multiple machines in one! This means that as you need to increase your cutting capacity you can do so by adding on to your existing Z-813 instead of having to buy another complete system. You only give up 2’ of floor space but gain 3 times the production capability.
- Cost – The most amazing part about this machine is that it is only $17,000 more then a Z-613. So although you gain a tremendous amount of capacity it only costs you a fraction of what an additional system would. Talk with other waterjet owners and you’ll see this is a great value for the investment. Generally you can get a new Z-813 in the same amount of time as it would take to get a Z-613. You’ll be up and running quickly and capable of generating 3 times the revenue!
No matter which WARDJet machine you select you’ll be impressed with the engineering, accuracy, service and support you will consistently receive. The Z-613 is a great starting point for many new waterjet customers, and don’t forget it can always grow to becoming a Z-813 down the road. Visit our website to read about the changes we can make to your Z-613 to turn it into a Z-813 whenever you’re ready!

- Only load end of table – then have to climb on.
- Cannot add second carriage without severely limiting travel & cutting envelope of master carriage.
- Have to use spreader-bar for more heads.
- Large footprint.
-
Cannot feed larger 8’ wide sheets through.
-
No clamping or jigging / fixturing system.
-
Proprietary controller – limited access.
-
Proprietary CAD / CAM software.
-
Limited options
-
Integrated pump has no brains – relies 100% on controller – cannot run independently with other gantries

- Load from 3 sides of table.
-
Cannot add second independent carriages.
-
Have to use spreader-bar for more heads. - Limited accuracy and load capacity with cantilever design.
