The story covers ITEN Industries, an extremely diverse vertically integrated plastic parts manufacturer located in Ashtabula OH. Their WARDJet waterjet machine has multiple Z-Carriages, each with their own pneumatic drill and cutting head - just another example of a customer using their machine as NOT JUST A WATERJET. The drill lets them pre-drill holes in composite materials in order to prevent delamination, something that commonly occurs when dealing with these types of materials. The story is published in their newest edition. Typically each load will be drawn and laid out prior to the truck arriving so it all goes smoothly. This is a ZX-613 shipped this week. OK… so we won’t win any awards for these shots. We will get those when the machine is complete. But this shows the insides of the unit as it comes together. It has 4 Z carriages each with height sensor, along with several other capabilities. Two 100 hp pumps will power this machine hence the dual pressure gauges on the cross beam. The machine, which has a cutting envelope of 2 meters x 4.3 meters with 2 heads, ships fully assembled and tested. Typically we can take it out of the container and have it moving around on your floor the same day. We then spend time leveling and checking circularity with a ball bar. The idea is to have the machine running and in operation 3 days later with a few more days of training on site after that. Although we have already installed the ZX-2043 model overseas, we only put this link on the web today. http://wardjet.com/Z2043.asp There are tons of photos of the unit under the slide show which you can go to directly. http://picasaweb.google.com/WARDJet/WardjetApril2009_web#5330186857633136930 Rich Labels: water jet, water jet cutters, water jet machines, waterjet, waterjet cutting machines, waterjets Monday, May 18, 2009Water Quality for Waterjet CuttingWater quality is vital to the operation of your waterjet. Hence the next chapter of WATERJET UNIVERSITY is on water. It’s a quick read and could make a difference to how you run your system. http://wardjet.com/waterjet-university/04-Water-Quality.asp Rich Labels: water jet, water jet cutters, water jet machines, waterjet, waterjet cutting machines, waterjets Friday, May 15, 2009Made in AmericaWARDJet waterjets are Made in America. While the trend to source more products outside the USA grows, WARDJet has made a very clear decision…. We will build our machines here, employ as many local university graduates, and base our R&D here. We believe the advantages of building in the USA far outweigh any savings that might be generated outside the USA. So yes, while many of our competitors are outsourcing more and more, (you may want to ask this question if you are interested when looking at various manufacturers and request an audit of external content) we are pleased to build WARDJet waterjets in the USA. It has the X-Classic controller with 8 full programmable axis capability, so if desired, all 4 X carriages could be made to be fully programmable in Z, each receiving their own commands. There would still be one axis available to use for pipe rotation, or an indexer. If you did not use the drives for programmable ‘Z’s’, you could still add a full 5 axis cutting head and still have a spare drive for pipe cutting or something else. This system will ship with 4 independent height sensors, one per cutting head, which again gives tremendous flexibility to the system.
